| 12/8/05 - Tustin, CA In a very successful kickoff event State Senator Chuck Poochigian launched the Orange County portion of his campaign for Attorney General in the State of California. The event was hosted by Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle, along with Garbis and Zov Karamardian at Orange County landmark restaurant Zov's Bistro. A number of dignitaries were present to help garner support for Chuck Poochigian, as were a number of members of the Orange County ANC. Also present were members of the Montebello ANC and a representative from the ANC Western Region Board. Discussions were held between members of the Orange County ANC and State Senator Poochigian, State Senator and Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman, and Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle regarding issues of importance to the Armenian Community and ways in which the Orange County and other chapters of the ANC would be able to help in this campaign. The event was also sponsored by long time Orange County ANC members Garbis and Zov Karamardian and Dr. Garo and Silvie Tertzakian. Downey Council member Kirk Cartozian was the emcee for the evening and introduced a number of elected officials from through out the Southern California area. Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle introduced Senator Poochigian to the many supporters who had gathered for the event, commenting repeatedly about the strength of Senator Poochigian's character, his dedication and his commitment. In his remarks, Senator Poochigian stressed the importance of someone in the state's second most powerful position being a person who understands the importance of victim's rights and pledged to act as a champion of victims of violent and non-violent crimes. Senator Poochigian went on to say that the State of California's 'Top Cop' needs to be someone of conviction with the support and backing of the law enforcement community. A number County Sheriffs have already shown their belief that Senator Poochigian is the right man for the job by endorsing him. The program was closed by the singing of "America the Beautiful" by Jill Simonian who recently gained some recognition as a top contender to work with the KTLA morning news. |
